The Solace of the Solstice
The solace of the Solstice, the turning of the year
When nature feels the season’s changing ways
And naturally, gradually, instinctively
Shifts into different gear
The solace of the solstice, the lightening of heart
We also feel the pull of longer days
And hopefully, cautiously, carefully
Wait for the year to start
I won’t be the only one hoping that the lightening of the skies might presage a ray or two reaching us poor mortalsĀ on earth. It would be nice to think that some ancient instinct would kick in and a surge of lightening of spirit would pervade the globe. Did our Ancestors gaze into the brightening dawn and feel that same instinct? For them it subsumed into staying alive after the Winter travails; with no apprehension of the unknown future.
For us it is so different. It feels as if apprehension is the order of the day. But we know the answers to our coming disasters. We just have to break the inertia of hibernation and put the rescue plan in to action.
Have a joyful festive season
Have a good Christmas – and don’t watch the news; it is far too depressing. Better, by far, to read your poems.
I agree with Sammy and wish all if us at least one peaceful merry day xx
Well said, we can only hope for a better future.
Have a lovely Christmas, hope to see you both in the new year xx
